Location and Schedule
The Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference takes place in the beautiful and quirky seaside town of Mendocino, California, which is located approximately 3 ½ hours’ drive north of San Francisco. Mendocino is highly picturesque, and participants should understand that it is a preserved historic site, with uneven roads, differing degrees of finished sidewalks, and some elevation climbs throughout town. The nearby, larger town of Fort Bragg is about 15 minutes’ drive north of Mendocino and offers many lodging, dining, and shopping options.
The daytime activities of the Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference–meals, workshops, seminars, and consultations–take place at the Mendocino K-8 School, located at 44261 Little Lake Rd, Mendocino, CA 95460. There is ample on-site parking. The Mendocino K-8 is located 1 mile east of the center of Mendocino Village and 10 miles south of the nearby town of Fort Bragg. While it is possible to walk from Mendocino Village to the Mendocino K-8 School, please note that it is an uphill walk that includes crossing a multi-lane road (with a traffic light, walk signal, and crosswalk) and walking either on the side of a country road or on an unpaved path just off the road.
The evening events of the Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference take place at Crown Hall, located at 45285 Ukiah St, Mendocino, CA 95460. Crown Hall is in Mendocino Village, and is walkable from locations in the Village.
