The Carmen Freund Memorial Fellowship, which pays full conference fees, honors the late Carmen Gabriela Etcheberry-Freund's enthusiasm and support of the writers conference and writing in general and is donated by her family. To be eligible, you must be 60 years old or older and a resident of the Mendocino Coast (Westport to Gualala and inland to the Anderson Valley). Awards are made on the basis of merit and need. This scholarship is for conference fees only; travel and lodging expenses are not covered.

• A completed conference registration form.
• A letter explaining your financial need, along with and the names and phone numbers of two personal references. (If you are a woman sixty or older, please mention this in your letter, as this would also make you eligible for consideration for a Mary Bradish Scholarship Grant.)
• A writing sample (up to ten pages, double-spaced, 12 pt. type) in any prose genre, or up to five poems.
